2012 is AvMA's 30th Anniversary - find out how you can join the celebrations and help us promote patient safety and justice!

In spite of improvements over the last 30 years, a massive amount remains to be done to improve patient safety and deliver fairer responses when things go wrong. Today, more than ever, AvMA remains at the forefront of pushing for change and improvement on behalf of people affected by medical accidents.

2012 marks AvMA’s 30th Anniversary, and, despite many significant achievements, the need for our work remains as great as ever.  Our resources are stretched to the limit and, as a charity, we depend on your help to enable us to continue our role as a powerful voice on behalf of those affected by medical accidents, to improve patient safety and ensure access to justice. For example:

  • £300 will help provide advice and support to 25 families via our Helpline, or help provide supporting paperwork for an inquest
  • £1,500 will help support one family at an inquest hearing, or help enable a family to pursue a claim to secure lifelong care
  • £3,000 will help pay for training for 20 Helpline volunteer advisors, or will help support two families through the inquest process
  • £30,000 will maintain the Advice Helpline for 6 months, or provide on inquest case worker for 12 months

Here is how you can best help AvMA meet the challenges ahead:

Nominate AvMA as your 'Charity of the Year'

Organise your own events to raise money for AvMA, and have fun at the same time! For example, organise a charity ball, quiz night, golf day or other event of your choosing to raise funds to help sustain our important projects and bring much-needed advice and support to many more families.
