Inca Trail to Machu Picchu

From high remote mountain trails to that first sight of the legendary Lost City of the Incas, the Inca Trail trek follows the classic route via Dead Woman's Pass to the renowned Sun Gate overlooking Machu Picchu.  

This beautiful route takes you through stunning and diverse landscapes, from snow capped mountains to crystal clear lakes and green valleys. This is a challenging trek on steep trails climbing to the high Wakawasi mountain pass of 4400m, with breathtaking views of snow capped Andean peaks.

TRIP ITINERARY

DAY 1: Depart London for Peru

DAY 2: Arrive Cuzco; gentle acclimatisation in city

DAY 3: Sacred Valley acclimatisation day-trek; visiting ruins including Sacsayhuaman

DAY 4: Start Inca Trail at 82km, follow Urubamba river through mountains

DAY 5: Trek through grassland and cloudforest to Dead Woman's Pass, descend to Pacamayo

DAY 6: Cross pass (4000m) Inca steps and runins to Winay Wayna

DAY 7: Early trek to Sun Gate and Machu Picchu: return to Cuzco

DAY 8: Free day in Cuzco; chance to visit community project

DAY 9: Fly via Lima to London

DAY 10: Arrive in London
