Local help with NHS complaints

It is often useful to have had an internal investigation of what happened with regard to your treatment before considering other options such as legal action (provided that the three year limitation period is not close). Information on complaints procedures is available on this site (see 'specialist leaflets') or in our information packs. Our caseworkers are probably the best people to advise you on medical or legal issues around your complaint. However, we currently only provide advice through correspondence or on the telephone. If you need to see someone local for help with making an NHS complaint (for example help in drafting a letter, or someone to accompany you to meetings), click on the part of the UK in which you live. The organisations listed should be able to help you with the NHS complaints procedure itself. You, and in some cases the local organisation advising you are always welcome to come to AvMA for our specialist input on clinical or medico-legal issues.
