Marlene Moura
I qualified as both a Nurse and Midwife and worked in Health for 40 years and I have worked in Malawi and Zambia.
I retired in 1997 having worked the last 20 years in operating theatres, for 11 years as the theatre manager.
Since my retirement I have been a volunteer with Community Health Council (7 years), also Patient and Public Involvement in Health Forum (4 years) monitoring local Hospital and Primary Care Trust services. We produced an Annual Report and had input into Healthcare Commission Annual Report on local Hospital.
I am a member of local Voluntary forum, and have been involved with Compact (Voluntary Community and Statutory Organisations) and Local Strategic Partnerships as a patient representative.
I work closely with local Cancer User Representative Groups, Maternity Services Liaison Committee, Cardiac Support Group, and Macmillan Steering group for Practice Development; also I am a Trustee of my local Hospice.
I have recently taken part in the East of England, Strategic Health Authority, Looking to the Future, working group for Maternity and Neonatal Services, also Lord Darzi review on these services.
Currently I sit on the Project Board reviewing Maternity and Neonatal services in Essex and the way forward for Neonatal services Levels 1, 2 and 3.
I am married with 3 children and 9 grandchildren (between 1 and 10 years old).
