Jonathan’s patient safety career began at Datix, where he worked with organisations around the world to design and implement the Datix patient safety reporting and learning software. As part of his work, Jonathan was also influenced by patients and families affected by avoidable harm in healthcare and social care, as well as staff who had been unfairly treated for raising concerns.
As chief executive of Datix, Jonathan worked with AvMA on a number of projects over the years, as well as sponsoring AvMA events. Jonathan stepped down as chief executive at the end of 2015 to pursue patient safety work and other interests and decided that applying for a trustee position would be a good way to continue to work with AvMA.
Jonathan’s patient safety interests include learning from incidents, safety culture and supporting patients and families who have been harmed, which together with his business experience are all areas in which he believes he will be able to support AvMA in his work as a trustee.
