Linda Kenward is a nurse and is Principal Lecturer in Nursing at the University of Cumbria. She is a registered counsellor with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and is currently undertaking a doctorate in integrative counselling focusing on ‘second harm’ as a result of errors, neglect and mismanagement of care in the healthcare setting.
Linda began her career as a nurse in 1978 and had worked in a variety of settings including the Royal Air Force, as an academic adviser to the BBC for an award-winning TV programme, as a consultant to the Scottish Government and writing distance learning material for the Open University.
Linda’s counselling experience has been with CRUSE and CRUSE Scotland as well as a community counselling project in Oxfordshire. She specialises in counselling clients who have experienced a medical error or harm.
Linda became interested in second harm, the harm done by the organisational and professional poor responses to initial harm, in 2008 following a medical error.
She now lives in Scotland with her husband and two terriers and enjoys cooking, listening to music and walking. She is a life-long Coronation Street fan.
