There are a couple of ways in which you could help us help people like yourself.
As part of our strategic plan AvMA has started work on reviewing our understanding of the journey, challenges and needs of the people we seek to help – those affected by avoidable harm in healthcare. We want to make sure that we use our limited resources in ways that are most helpful and deliver the best results or impact for them. We would like to hear from you if you would be prepared to spend a little time speaking to us about your experience and what was or what would have been most helpful to you.
We are also stepping up our work on Patients for Patient Safety. This is our effort to develop a movement of people affected by avoidable harm. By engaging with this movement we can provide a more unified voice from the patient/family perspective on what needs to change or improve in the world of patient safety. We can connect people with each other and where people are happy to we can introduce them to parts of the NHS who want to engage with them. We also want to create as a resource a list of people with experience of avoidable harm and its aftermath who are happy to deliver talks/presentations, training, or simply to share their story to help get across the need for change
