Vacancy: trustees and trainee trustee(s)

Published: 18 Jan 2021

AvMA has an exciting opportunity to make a difference in patient safety and justice. We are looking for new trustees and also have an opportunity to become a trainee trustee. Trustees should have one or more of the following areas of knowledge/experience:

  • Accountancy/finance: with a view to potentially becoming treasurer when the current treasurer retires
  • Healthcare: ideally with experience of patient safety work in healthcare
  • Clinical negligence litigation as a claimant solicitor/barrister
  • Fundraising
  • Experience of avoidable harm in healthcare, either as a patient or family member

If you want to become a charity trustee but lack the experience, we are also looking for a trainee trustee. You’ll take part in our meetings without taking on the formal responsibilities of trusteeship. We’ll provide support and mentoring to help you gain the necessary skills. Our hope is that you’ll be able to join the Board of Trustees as a full member in due course – or you may choose to go on to sit on other charity Boards.

The roles are not remunerated but travel and other expenses are paid, and Trustees/Trainee Trustees may attend AvMA’s conferences and other training events free of charge.

Join us at this exciting time, as we build on our many achievements and develop our future strategy.
