Dr Harriet Leyland – Associate Trustee

Harriet is an experienced doctor and patient safety specialist with a career spanning clinical practice, health technology leadership, and consultancy. As an Associate Trustee at AvMA, she brings expertise in clinical risk management, governance, and health system improvement to promote safer care and reduce inequalities.

She is currently Clinical Safety Officer at Palantir Technologies, ensuring that clinical tools deployed on the NHS Federated Data Platform have patient safety embedded throughout.

Previously, Harriet worked in consultancy across the NHS, government, and private sector, leading projects to strengthen patient engagement, advance digital health, and improve population health. Earlier in her career, she trained as an anaesthetist in the NHS and worked internationally in primary care and medical assistance.

She has also served as a medical tribunal member for the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service and is a Fellow of the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management.
