Patient stories

Patients and families affected by avoidable harm in healthcare are at the heart of everything we do.

As the only patients’ charity specialising in patient safety and justice we make a difference when you most need it.

Thank you.

As part of AvMA’s endeavours to improve patients’ lives we work with other charities, agencies, and organisations. We are currently supporting a study being carried out jointly by Oxford University and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine on Harmful Experience of Healthcare. The aim of the study is to better understand the prevalence, patients’ perspectives and factors that influence actions when an adverse medical incident/outcome has occurred in the NHS. The study is currently looking to increase the number of people from minority groups and those with disabilities who have experienced harm. If you are interested in being part of the study then please see the below poster and further information. For further enquiries please contact Lavanya Thana and Helen Crocker on 07849310428 or by email healthcare.experiences@lshtm.ac.uk
