Important information about our response to Covid-19, coronavirus
Published: 18 Mar 2020
On Government advice AvMA staff and volunteers are now working from home wherever possible. We are doing our best to operate all of our activities as normal wherever possible. Our helpline for those seeking advice continues to operate as normal for the time being, as do our other services (see below). However, calls to our general office number will no longer be answered. Instead, you are requested to email or call the individual concerned (if you have their email address or direct line number) or email firstname.lastname@example.org and you will be responded to as soon as possible.
We would like to reassure you that our helpline remains open for its usual hours of 10am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday on 0845 123 2352. Our staff and volunteers will be working safely from home and will still be able to answer your calls and provide expert advice and support.
We will be monitoring the situation as it develops and hope to be able to continue a full service throughout. However, it may sometimes take a little longer for you to be able to get through to an adviser, and it may become necessary to limit the helpline’s hours in the future. Please be assured that we will be doing everything we safely can to maintain a full service to you.
Please do take advantage of our online advice, available at www.avma.org.uk/guides, which has clear and straightforward advice on a wide range of issues and is often the fastest way to get the information you need. You can also contact us using our new client form at www.avma.org.uk/new-client-form. Please be aware that it may take longer than usual for us to respond. We regret that we are not able to provide any advice over social media – please use the methods listed above.
We will continue to follow Government advice as the situation develops and will keep you updated on any changes to our services. In the meantime thank you for your understanding and we wish you and your families well.
