Research on harm within healthcare

Published: 18 Jul 2018

Hello, my name is Linda Kenward and I am a trustee of AvMA and doctoral student at the University of Derby.  I am conducting research on harm within healthcare, specifically the kind of harm that happens as a result of the manner in which a healthcare provider, professional or organisation responded to errors, neglect or mismanagement of care, which is termed ‘second harm’. If you have had an experience of second harm I am inviting you to participate and contribute to a greater understanding of how counsellors might help individuals recover from this.

Participation in this involves an online activity in which you sort a number of statements on a grid against the criteria ‘most important/least important. This activity can take up to an hour but is done in your own home. There will also be a short follow up interview by telephone where I will ask you about the experience of undertaking the activity. This will take approximately 20 minutes.

If you have any questions or would like to participate in the research, please contact me on linda.kenward@cumbria.ac.uk
