Michele Salter

Michele joined the NHS in 1984 as a clerk and after qualifying as a Chartered Public Finance Accountant, with extensive experience in financial, capital and management accounting, she worked her way through the ranks to Director of Finance level. Her career spanned 3 decades across a variety of health settings including acute, mental health, community and primary care organisations.

She has a strong history of leading people through change management including healthcare provider mergers, transitioning to Foundation Trust status and migrating healthcare services from acute to community settings. She has served on NHS boards across the UK including Director of Finance roles in London, Hertfordshire, Essex and Lincolnshire.

Alongside her professional career, Michele has always been an active volunteer for a variety of charitable causes. She is currently the Chair of the Sickle Cell Society UK and is passionate about addressing the known health inequalities impacting negatively on people from black African and Caribbean heritage.

Sadly Michele has experienced losing a loved one from clinical negligence and is delighted to support the work of AvMA as a Trustee.
