From helpline support and legal advice to policy consultations and media advocacy, the report reflects a year of wide-reaching impact that made a real difference to individuals and the healthcare system.

  • 3,105 people supported through our helpline and casework
  • Over 20% of callers had already been turned away by a solicitor
  • 92% said AvMA met or exceeded expectations
  • 16 national media stories on patient safety and systemic reform
  • 1,992 professionals trained across conferences and webinars
  • Engagement with over 30 organisations
  • Contributions to six major policy consultations
  • Our Clinical Negligence Panel grew to 169 accredited solicitors

Real stories, real change

The report features personal stories, like that of June and Tricia, whose father died following avoidable medical harm. With AvMA’s support during the inquest process, they were able to seek answers and accountability.

“She [AvMA’s adviser] was a refreshing voice during a very emotional time. Her knowledge made a huge difference.” – June and Tricia

What’s next for AvMA?

In 2025–26, we will continue to build on this year’s achievements. We plan to pilot the Harmed Patient Pathway with healthcare providers, expand our reach through a new website, and continue supporting the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Patient Safety as its Secretariat.
