SImon Fox

Simon qualified and worked firstly as a doctor before coming to the bar. He is a Claimant clinical negligence specialist with 25 years experience, ranked as a band one silk by both leading legal directories. He specialises in particular in cases with difficult or complicated issues on breach and causation. He has lectured extensively on the Bolam test and expert evidence and is one of the few barristers to have succeeded on a disputed material contribution causation argument at trial. He has been described as “able to see points other barristers couldn’t and offer a new perspective”. He acted for the Claimant in the case of Porter v Barts Health 2017 EWHC 1245 QB – securing a total interim payment of £2.4m to purchase a property, believed to be the highest interim payment ever ordered in a clinical negligence claim. He is based at Serjeants’ Inn and Exchange Chambers.
