Clinical Practice & Experience

Dr Mian is a General Practitioner conducting clinical sessions in a salaried role and as a peripatetic locum in both the NHS and private sector in Greater Manchester, working across different integrative care boards. She is also a royal pathologist accredited medical examiner at Manchester Foundation Trust. This portfolio career has afforded her a broad scope of clinical experience delivering general practice in multiple, diverse settings and providing unique expertise into both the primary and secondary and NHS and private interface.

Working in both the NHS and private sector has allowed Dr Mian to be involved in developing mechanisms to ensure that the recommendations outlined in The Department of Health guidance entitled Guidance on NHS patients who wish to pay for additional private care and A Code of Conduct for Private Practice Guidance for NHS Medical Staff is implemented in a way that supports good clinical practice and patient safety is upheld as paramount.

As the local clinical lead for urgent and emergency care for the integrative care board Dr Mian supports urgent and emergency care programmes across Manchester and Trafford and provides clinical, professional advice and critical overview in relation to the development of and delivery of urgent care priorities.

As a medical examiner Dr Mian is involved in structured judgement reviews, morbidity and mortality meetings and serious incident investigations and this involves coordinating with the Patient Advice and Liaison Service, registrars, coroners and their officers and bereavement care teams. Accruing substantial inpatient and outpatient dermatology experience has established proficiency using a dermatoscope to diagnose skin lesions and regularly manage a wide range of complex skin conditions. Dr Mian completed her applied functional medical practitioner training for integrative medicine in October 2018 and has supplemented this with RCGP accredited training relating to nutrition, allergy, exercise and lifestyle medicine to ensure that integrative medicine approaches are explored within the scope of current approved regulatory body guidance and frameworks.
