Patients for Patient Safety

Patients for Patient Safety is AvMA’s network of patients and families who share our passion for seeing improvements in patient safety and the way that people affected by avoidable harm in healthcare are treated afterwards.

Anyone can sign up for free to be part of the network, receive our bi-monthly newsletter, information on campaigns and consultations, write blogs or articles for our website or newsletter. With around 2,000 people already signed up, Patients for Patient Safety is a powerful movement for change which puts patients and families at the forefront of work on patient safety.

Members of the network can be put in touch with the NHS or other organisations who want to involve patients/families in their work. We also maintain a list of patients/family members who are happy to give presentations, share their story, or help with training or projects.

Being a member of the network is free but you are also invited to become a Friend of AvMA and support AvMA’s work by making a monthly charitable donation from as little as £2.50 a month. For details click here.

AvMA’s Patients for Patient Safety network is distinct from the World Health Organisation (WHO) Patients for Patient Safety programme, although AvMA’s chief executive is an approved WHO Patients for Patient Safety champion. AvMA also worked with the WHO and National Patient Safety Agency to develop and manage the the Patients for Patient Safety project in England and Wales.
