human-rights-act

The Human Rights Act 1998 sets out the fundamental rights and freedoms that everyone in the UK is entitled to, therefore impacting on aspects of healthcare provision, end of life and mental health issues.

At the end of this conference, you will understand how to apply the Human Rights Act and its relevant articles to healthcare practice and clinical negligence cases. Fatal accident claims, the inquest process, end of life issues, withdrawal of treatment and mental health detentions will all be examined. You will also understand how to challenge decisions using the Human Rights Act, as well as recognise the impact of Brexit on the HRA, the possible introduction of a British Bill of Rights and how this might affect patient safety and access to justice.
