Three entry levels for the scheme
Level 1
Level 2
Level 3
Benefits of the CCS
- CCS is good for applicants and firms. It is a tool for junior lawyers to achieve recognition of their level of competence and can reassure firms that their staff are receiving the experience and training they need to become good specialist clinical negligence lawyers.
- Firms are able to advertise that their specialist employees have attained a recognised level of competence (although there will be no quality mark/badge as there is for Avma accredited lawyers).
- It helps patients and families identify that the a junior lawyer in their case has achieved a level of competence and experience, which they will hopefully find reassuring.
- A list of lawyers who have achieved certification under this scheme are listed on a dedicated page on the Avma website.
- CCS has a currency — the level attained serves as an indication of a junior lawyer’s ability and experience, and is also a useful tool for firms seeking to recruit new junior staff.
