Represent Avma at events, conferences, and community gatherings. Share our mission and inspire others to support us.

About this role

  • Role title: Volunteer Ambassador/Speaker
  • Department: Fundraising, Marketing & Communications
  • Time commitment: This is a flexible role that can fit around your availability. There is no minimum time commitment, but ideally we’d encourage 2–3 hours per month. Opportunities to get involved will be shared with you to choose what feels right based on your time, interests, and confidence.

The aim of our ambassador/speaker role is to help more people understand the advice, information, and support we offer to people who have experienced medical harm.

Volunteer ambassadors play an important role in raising awareness of our work, speaking at events, attending webinars, connecting with networks, or helping others understand how they can support safer healthcare.

By sharing Avma’s work and why it matters, you will be helping more people find the information, support, and guidance they may need at a difficult time. You will also help us reach new audiences, build relationships, and encourage support through fundraising, partnerships, or advocacy.

This role is flexible and can take different forms depending on your available time, confidence, and experience.

What this role involves

What you might do:

  • Speak at events or webinars about Avma’s work and why it matters
  • Represent Avma at events organised by partners or supporters
  • Deliver short talks, presentations, or take part in Q&A sessions
  • Talk with event attendees and answer questions about Avma’s work
  • Thank supporters and recognise the difference that their support makes
  • Help raise awareness of campaigns or fundraising activities

Types of events you might attend:

  • The Avma Annual Clinical Negligence Conference
  • The Avma Summer Sundown Social
  • The Avma Holly Jolly Christmas Event
  • Online Avma webinars focused on raising awareness, support, and key topics regarding patient safety and justice
  • Networking events organised by our supporters and partners
  • Fundraising events organised by our supporters and partners (e.g. quiz nights, dinners or team challenges)

What you’ll gain from this role
